Carlos Sainz wants grid penalties for drivers who cause qualifying flags.

Carlos Sainz plans to raise a proposal for drivers who trigger yellow or red flags in qualifying to receive a three-place grid penalty, arguing it would reduce any incentive to gain from stoppages.

Sainz said Max Verstappen's Austria qualifying crash should have led to double yellows or a red flag. He also said George Russell followed the rules correctly when he completed the lap that earned pole.
