Hamilton said Silverstone's long straights and few braking zones will make power deployment unusually difficult for the new cars. He expects batteries to run low through key high-speed areas, leaving the MGU-K switched off for a large part of the lap.

Fernando Alonso also expects a very different lap, with Becketts effectively becoming a place to recover energy. The recharge allowance is 6.5MJ for qualifying and 8MJ for the Sprint and Grand Prix.
