Carlos Sainz receives a reduced penalty for his collision with Oscar Piastri.

Stewards gave Sainz a five-second penalty after finding him wholly responsible for the Turn 3 contact. The usual 10-second sanction was reduced because Piastri was outside Sainz's field of view before attempting to pass.

The collision delayed Piastri while he was challenging for the lead. A blue-flag system fault had left drivers dependent on manually waved flags and instructions from their teams.
