Hockenheim has approached Formula 1 about returning to the calendar after last hosting a Grand Prix in 2019. Formula 1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali confirmed an initial discussion but said the circuit would need significant investment to stage an event.
The circuit's majority owner, emodrom, has planned €250 million of investment for an expanded Porsche Experience Centre, a new hotel and another motoring facility. Hockenheim remains one of several venues seeking a future calendar place.
