Drivers have complained that higher minimum pressures reduce grip, increase corner-entry lock-ups and make the 2026 tyres harder to warm up and manage. The pressures are generally three to four psi higher than last year because of the loads created by active aerodynamics.
Pirelli proposed requiring cars stuck in high-downforce corner mode for five laps to pit under a black-and-orange flag. Removing the risk of prolonged running in that configuration would have allowed Pirelli to lower pressures during the second half of the season.
