Kimi Antonelli will take a planned engine penalty at his home race in Monza.

Mercedes will install additional power-unit components in Antonelli's car, triggering a grid penalty. Toto Wolff said the team's calculations identified Monza as the best circuit for the change despite its significance to the Italian driver.

Mercedes wants to reduce the risk of further reliability trouble after Antonelli retired with a technical problem in Barcelona. Wolff said discussions were continuing over whether George Russell should also receive new components.
