Ocon passed Alex Albon under green flags before Max Verstappen's opening-lap crash stopped the race. Officials restored the order from the end of the first lap, putting the Haas behind Albon again.
Ocon later retired with his first mechanical failure of the season. He said Haas would examine its strategy and hoped planned upgrades would improve its performance at Monza.
