Franco Colapinto sought an Alpine position swap as Oscar Piastri closed in Madrid.

Franco Colapinto asked Alpine to move Pierre Gasly aside in the closing stages of the Spanish Grand Prix while defending against Oscar Piastri. He remained behind his teammate until Gasly made his planned pit stop.

Gasly had spent almost the entire race on his starting hard tyres as Alpine waited for another Safety Car opportunity. He repeatedly questioned the strategy before ending radio discussions with his engineer.
