Esteban Ocon expressed frustration after a yellow flag ruined his final Q2 lap in Azerbaijan Grand Prix qualifying, leaving him 14th on the grid when he believed a Q3 appearance was possible. The Haas driver was on pace for a top-ten qualifying position before having to lift off at Turn 15 to avoid penalties.
Ocon described the missed opportunity as particularly painful given Haas has struggled throughout much of the 2026 season. He noted the car was working well this weekend after months of inconsistent performance, making the setback more disappointing.
The French driver has endured a difficult campaign marked by various issues affecting his side of the garage. He expressed his frustration with recurring problems, saying he doesn't deserve the difficulties he has faced and might need to take a good shower after the session.
Despite the qualifying disappointment, Ocon acknowledged the car showed genuine Q3 pace and expressed hope for fighting in the points during Saturday's race. His teammate Oliver Bearman also narrowly missed Q3, finishing 11th after being bumped out by later runners.
