Formula 1 is preparing Imola as a contingency venue for the season finale while waiting to see how events unfold in the Middle East. The sport wants to continue with races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi as originally planned but cannot afford last-minute changes without an alternative.
Formula 1 will cover preparatory costs at Imola, including grandstands, even if no switch occurs. Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu noted organizational challenges including finding alternative personnel for European motorhome structures.
