Isack Hadjar confirmed he fractured a bone in his wrist while boxing during the 2026 Formula 1 summer break, causing him to sit out the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort and the following two rounds. The Red Bull driver had avoided discussing the injury details until finishing on the podium in Baku last weekend.

Hadjar described the injury as a small fracture on the outside of the wrist that required a lengthy healing process. Wrist injuries typically take longer to recover from because the area remains in constant use, putting carpal bones under stress and disrupting the healing process. The usual recovery timeline involves six weeks in a splint.

The driver admitted he should use his brain more when boxing next time, joking about the incident that sidelined him for what felt like a whole winter break in the middle of the season. Marc Marquez, who has experience with various injuries held together by steel pins, advised Hadjar on his return timeline.

Hadjar returned to racing at the earliest realistic opportunity and is likely to continue feeling discomfort for several weeks. The injury forced Red Bull and Racing Bulls to reshuffle their driver lineups during his absence, creating significant disruption to team operations during a crucial part of the championship.
