The Federation Automobile d'Ukraine has called for the FIA General Assembly to address alleged violations of the governing body's statutes by Russia. The Ukrainian club claims the Russian Automobile Federation is operating offices in Ukrainian territory annexed following Russia's invasion.
The allegations center on breaches of article 3.3 of the FIA Statutes, which requires member clubs' activities to be confined to their national territory, and article 1.4.1 of the International Sporting Code regarding national sporting authority recognition. The Ukrainian club argues these violations warrant General Assembly discussion due to FIA bodies' inaction.
Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, prompting Formula 1 and the FIA to cancel the Russian Grand Prix and initially prevent Russian competitors from participating under the Russian flag. However, the FIA abandoned the flag restriction in August 2026.
