Fernando Alonso revealed he introduced his son Leonard to karting when the baby was just two months old, taking him for a lap while holding him in his arms. The Aston Martin driver said Leonard, now six months old, already felt the wind on his face during their first circuit experience together.
Alonso shared these details during an interview with Spanish radio program El Larguero, opening up about balancing fatherhood with his Formula 1 commitments. He expressed excitement about sharing circuits and travels around the world with Leonard next season, taking lots of photos together.
The two-time world champion acknowledged that when he eventually leaves Formula 1, he won't be traveling to 24 countries every year, so he hopes to share more time with his son. Alonso welcomed Leonard with partner Melissa Jimenez in March 2026.
Despite being typically private about his personal life, Alonso described Leonard as a very smiley child who brings him wonderful moments at home. He said these few moments make up for all the professional difficulties Aston Martin has faced this season, as the team currently sits tenth in the constructors' standings with only three points.
