Lewis Hamilton is under investigation by FIA stewards after impeding Audi driver Gabriel Bortoleto during second practice at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. The incident occurred at Turn 9 when Bortoleto encountered the slow-moving Ferrari on the approach to the hairpin.
Bortoleto aired his frustration over team radio, saying Hamilton kept blocking despite seeing him coming. The Audi driver was on a fast lap while Hamilton was completing a cooldown lap after his run.
Hamilton reported mirror problems to his Ferrari team during the session, explaining he could not see through his right-hand mirror. The stewards noted the incident before upgrading it to a formal investigation requiring Hamilton and a Ferrari representative to appear.
This marks the latest in a series of impeding incidents involving Hamilton this season. He received a three-place grid penalty in Hungary for blocking Oscar Piastri and was criticized by multiple drivers in Spain and given a reprimand for blocking Liam Lawson in Baku.
