Alex Albon escaped penalty after an investigation into his collision with Oscar Piastri at pit entry during the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. Piastri was forced to take avoiding action when Albon slowed unexpectedly on the approach to the pit lane, triggering a stewards investigation for allegedly erratic driving.
Albon explained he was slowing to meet the required delta time on his steering wheel display after becoming aware he was below the threshold. The Williams driver said he was barely legal crossing the timing line and had to brake to avoid exceeding the minimum delta time requirement.
Piastri confirmed after hearing Albon's explanation that he considered the reason for the Williams driver's actions understandable. The stewards noted no collision occurred and ruled that no infringement had taken place, taking no further action against Albon.
