Lewis Hamilton proposed that more Formula 1 venues install floodlights to provide flexibility between day and night racing at the Singapore Grand Prix. The seven-time champion praised current night races in Singapore, Bahrain, Jeddah, Qatar and Las Vegas, plus Abu Dhabi's twilight format, for offering spectacular visuals and cooler conditions.

Hamilton recalled advocating for Bahrain's switch to night racing after experiencing unbearable daytime heat during testing, with the circuit adopting night sessions in 2014. He suggested venues like Madrid could look equally impressive under lights, giving tracks the option to alternate between day and night formats over time.

The British driver acknowledged the challenge of different time zones affecting sleep patterns but described liking the unique demands night races create. He emphasized that some locations with extreme daytime heat would benefit spectators and paddock personnel by racing under cooler nighttime conditions.

Singapore faces additional complications this weekend with its first sprint format, featuring just one practice session before competitive running begins. Weather forecasts predict rain throughout the weekend, though Hamilton noted Malaysia typically shows thunderstorms that rarely materialize into actual precipitation.
