FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem described plans around Formula 1's next engine rules era, with V8s expected for 2031 as the current turbo hybrids are judged too expensive and complex.

Ben Sulayem raised the idea of an FIA-selected independent engine supplier, with a cost-controlled V8 available to customer teams. He said the aim would be to reduce manufacturer influence over teams that rely on supplied engines.
