Liam Lawson was promoted to Red Bull after a six-race Racing Bulls audition in 2024, but his spell alongside Max Verstappen lasted only two race weekends. Red Bull moved him back to Racing Bulls after the Chinese Grand Prix, with Yuki Tsunoda taking the seat.

Lawson has since led Racing Bulls against rookie team mate Arvid Lindblad, outscoring him 39-20 this season. He has also yet to finish a Grand Prix behind Lindblad, while Racing Bulls is putting pressure on Alpine in the constructors' standings.
