Piastri sits seventh in the championship, 55 points behind McLaren teammate Lando Norris, after finishing more than 30 seconds behind him in sixth at Zandvoort.
Mark Hughes linked Piastri's difficulties to low-grip conditions, saying his later turn-in and heavier steering inputs can create understeer followed by oversteer and compromise the car's setup.
