Lewis Hamilton continued for half a lap after crashing at Turn 22 in final practice at the Madring, despite repeated instructions from race engineer Carlos Santi to stop. His Ferrari had a front right puncture and a wing beneath its wheels.
Race director Rui Marques formally ordered Hamilton to stop, and he pulled over at the exit of Turn 14. Stewards had not announced an investigation into his driving.
