Valtteri Bottas rejected criticism of Cadillac's strategy to increasingly divide its Formula 1 operations between the United Kingdom and United States as the team expands its American presence. Former team principal Otmar Szafnauer called the approach "suboptimal" for championship success, but Bottas dismissed those concerns.
Cadillac established its initial base at Silverstone for manufacturing and logistics but is constructing a new facility in Indianapolis that will house the wind tunnel and simulator. The General Motors power unit project will operate from Charlotte, North Carolina, creating a transatlantic operation.
Team principal Marcin Budkowski addressed rumors about staff ultimatums regarding relocation, calling such claims "totally unfounded" and inviting doubters to visit their impressive Silverstone facility. He confirmed the team will progressively develop its American footprint through manufacturing and other capabilities.
Bottas argued the dual-location strategy offers the best of both worlds, combining existing Formula 1 expertise in the UK with fresh American perspectives and General Motors motorsport knowledge. He expressed confidence after visiting the Indianapolis facility, describing it as really impressive with an excellent layout where everyone works together.
