Alpine executive Flavio Briatore confirmed the team will focus on their championship battle with Racing Bulls rather than dwelling on Franco Colapinto's collision in Azerbaijan. Colapinto triggered a three-car accident involving teammate Pierre Gasly and McLaren's Lando Norris, with all three drivers retiring from the race.
Both Alpine drivers were positioned to score valuable points before the incident, but instead lost ground to Racing Bulls as Arvid Lindblad took seventh place. The crash left Alpine trailing their rivals by 15 points in the fight for fifth place in the constructors' championship.
Briatore acknowledged his initial anger about the Baku incident but emphasized the team's forward-looking approach. He said whatever internal actions were taken remain private, adding that dwelling on the past serves no purpose when eight races remain in the season.
Colapinto faces a five-place grid penalty for this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, and Alpine has decided to take additional engine penalties while his chances of scoring points are already reduced.
