Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar revealed he still does not have full movement in his wrist after fracturing it during the summer break, but considers his condition good enough to race. The 22-year-old was forced to sit out the Dutch, Italian and Spanish Grands Prix before returning at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix where he finished third.
Speaking on Formula 1's Beyond The Grid podcast, Hadjar admitted he had not fully regained his previous range of motion but emphasized that feeling in the car takes priority over pain management. He completed over 100 laps in the simulator on Monday to prepare for his return.
The injury caught Hadjar by surprise as he had never broken a bone before in his career. When doctors told him he would be out for several weeks, he initially thought about his upcoming race just five days away, making the news a significant shock.
Hadjar joked that he did very good work on the couch during his recovery time, as he received his Monaco Grand Prix podium reinstatement and secured a contract extension with Red Bull while sidelined. He stressed his commitment to staying with the team long-term rather than serving as a temporary replacement.
