Lewis Hamilton insisted he and Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc are "here to attack" during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend after a difficult start to their previous race in Malaysia. Hamilton arrived following a recovery drive to the podium at Sepang, where wrong tire strategy initially dropped him toward the rear of the field.
The seven-time champion acknowledged the podium in Malaysia was his first since the British Grand Prix in July but cautioned it didn't necessarily mean Ferrari were back in championship contention. He described Singapore as presenting lots of challenges, particularly with the sprint weekend format making it the most demanding of the year.
Hamilton expressed hope that Ferrari's car would be better suited to Singapore's street circuit characteristics, noting they are generally good on tracks without long straights. He explained their recent pace through corners has been strong while straight-line performance has lagged behind competitors.
Teammate Leclerc remained cautious about their prospects despite Ferrari's historical strength at Singapore, warning they cannot rely on past performance. He noted the recent tendency has been losing performance compared to leading teams, making victory very difficult to achieve.
